A redesigned system still runs through people. Managers decide what gets said in a one-to-one, how feedback is delivered, whether an adjustment is a fight or a conversation, and what happens after something goes wrong.

This is practical, repeatable skill. It is not awareness, and it is not a lecture on neurodiversity.

What Managers Learn

  • Make expectations explicitInstead of assumed.
  • Give feedback every brain type can useClear, specific and usable, whoever is receiving it.
  • Notice early strainBefore it becomes an injury.
  • Offer more than one way inMore than one way to take in and respond to information.
  • Hold predictable conversationsAbout workload and capacity.
  • Repair after a ruptureRather than routing it to HR.
  • Recognise a dismissed concern as a hazardRather than a personality clash.

Why Training Is Not the Whole Answer

Worth saying plainly, because it is unusual for a training page to say it.

Training is a lower-order administrative control and cannot substitute for controlling the hazard at source. In Victoria the regulations say it in plain terms: training may only be used on its own when no change to the work, the systems, the plant or the environment is reasonably practicable, and where it sits alongside those changes it must not be the main control. Elsewhere in Australia, employers are expected to eliminate psychosocial risk so far as reasonably practicable and to control what remains, and training sits well down that list.

Training works when it sits on top of work that has already been redesigned. It does not work as a substitute for redesigning it. If a manager has been trained to have a good conversation about workload, but the workload is still impossible, the conversation changes nothing.

How It Runs

  • Face to face or online
  • Sixty to ninety minutes, or half a day
  • Single sessions or a series across a year
  • Delivered as standalone modules or as a full series
  • Every session ends with something participants can use at work the next day

Boundary

This training is preventive. It does not cover complaints handling, performance management, disciplinary process or dismissal.

Your managers leave with something they can use on Monday.

Worth knowing before you call

Joy Diving Australia does not advise on or certify work health and safety compliance, conduct work health and safety audits, give legal advice, assess, screen, diagnose or treat anyone, or profile workers.

It does not write policies, procedures, care plans, learning plans or position descriptions. It can comment on how a draft affects work design, because the document itself stays with you.

Its work informs your own hazard identification and control decisions. You rate your own risk and own that rating throughout.
